The D-Side With Kolohe Andino: Part 2
Wednesday, July 18th, 2012“A gift, of sorts, from Stab”
Tuesday, June 26th, 2012Stab’s last print issue featured this double-page spread of Julian Wilson using an Astrodeck front-foot traction pad. Julian tells the Stab readers about how Christian (Fletcher) gave him the pad and why he loves the grip so much. In Julian’s own words: “It felt like the best grip I’ve ever felt, like my foot couldn’t come off. I was hooked. So, now, I’ve just been using it on all my boards. It’s just really light and really sticky. I haven’t looked back since.”
Thanks to Elliot Struck and the guys over at Stab for shooting this over to us!
It’s Astrodeck or nothing, you insubordinate!

John John Won Won
Wednesday, May 16th, 2012We’d like to give a huge shout-out of congratulations to one of our own, John John Florence.
If you haven’t heard by now, John John just snagged his first WCT contest win at the Billabong Rio Pro in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with an impressive 16.37 tally over Joel Parkinson’s score of 11.44. To get to the victor’s podium, John John also went through a series of heats against Josh Kerr (in the semi-finals) and another one of Astrodeck’s favorites, Julian Wilson (in the quarter-finals).
This puts John John as #6 in the current ASP rankings while Parko is on top as Numero Uno.
The guys will be heading to Fiji next. And we can’t wait to see some more of the John John Florence Show. World Title this year? There’s a good chance. Future World Champ? That’s a definite.
Here are some frame grabs from the Billabong Rio Pro. Congrats again, John John!
Greyson Kills It (Again).
Friday, May 11th, 2012Check out this vid clip of Greyson on Thrasher Mag’s home page. Greyson qualified yesterday and will be in the Pro-Tec Pool Party contest this weekend at the Vans Skatepark. The kid’s got style for miles.
Go out and support him!
Nathan’s Night (AKA The Billabong XXL Awards)
Tuesday, May 8th, 2012Well, by now you’ve all heard that Nathan killed it during the Billabong XXL Awards. The event took place at the Grove in Anaheim this past May 4th, and all eyes were on shy, unassuming Nathan.
Nathan was nominated for three categories: “Ride of the Year”, ”Men’s Performance” and “Monster Tube Champion”, and true to Nathan’s fashion, when Dave Grohl and his fellow bandmates (of Chevy Metal fame) announced the “Monster Tube Champion” as none other than Nathan Fletcher, homeboy was nowhere to be found.
Heads were turning, eyes straining, the attending spectators both hooting and whispering in hushed tones; everyone wondering where the (unofficial) Surfer of the Year was. For a second there, we at Astrodeck even thought that maybe Nathan ducked out of the whole scene and just decided to go back home to hang with his dogs Mr. Buzz and Boopers. Sometimes it seems like surfing death-defying beastly waves comes easier for Nate rather than being publically acknowledged by his friends, peers and fans.
As Chevy Metal heckled Nathan for missing out on receiving the award - funny and awkward - and Herbie got up on stage as a last-ditch effort to buy some time (”Where are you, Nathan?”), the audience erupted into cheers as Nathan finally made his way through the congratulatory crowd and all their pats on the back.
Up on deck, in front of the masses, as he hugged his proud pops, Nathan was at a loss for words, but still in his typical humble mode as he rattled off his genuine gratefulness to those who mattered.
And thus kicked-off the Billabong XXL Awards…
A big round of applause to everyone who was nominated and to everyone who won. And, of course, we’re especially proud of Nathan. Way to go, Nate!!!

No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service!
Wednesday, April 25th, 2012We’ve just received our new inventory of Astrodeck t-shirts, and for this go-around, we thought we’d bring back some of our old school graphics - like the original Astrodeck logo, and the first shirt Herbie ever produced, the Carvin’ Marvin.
How’s this for classic? The Carvin’ Marvin features the late, great Marvin Foster. No one had a backside pig-dog the way Marvin did. Just a week in it’s first run and this shirt is nearly sold-out. Already!
We also just got in the original Astrodeck logo shirt in both black and heather gray with camo lettering. Sure, go ahead and buy those other brand shirts at Tilly’s or PacSun. Be like everyone else, you hipster donkey. Or you can strut your stuff around in this OG tee from one of the last standing (and still) family-owned businesses who actually surf.
By now you guys have heard that Herbie is working on a new Wave Warriors film. So on the premise of that, we’ve decided to get some Wave Warriors themed t-shirts rolling. Probably get a monthly WW shirt series in the making, too. Of course this shot of Nathan’s was a no-brainer and was our first choice.

Timing Is Everything
Tuesday, April 24th, 2012Greyson’s First Cover
Monday, April 2nd, 2012Greyson’s been on a bit of a tear lately. Weather permitting, he’s been making the drive up to LA to skate some hot spots with a random cast of characters and friends.
Greyson is so gnar that you can wring out the after-sesh shirt sweat. Pretty gross, right? Well, that’s how we like it! Shows you how hard he’s been hitting it!
And it’s all been paying off. Check out the current issue of Beach Brother Magazine. Greyson made the cover! The magazine is primarily in French, but that’s what Google Translation is for. Or better yet, get one of those Rosetta Stones and learn the language. Eat a baguette while you’re at it, too.
Greyson made the cover while also making the inside scoop along with the rest of the Fletcher’s (minus Dibi). And for more of Beach Brother, check out their site at: http://www.beachbrother.com/
