Jet Setting With Walter Hoffman And Steve Walden

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

Although Walter Hoffman is getting older and his legs aren’t what they used to be, he’ll never stop surfing. And now with the help of surfboard shaper Steve Walden and WaveJet Technologies, Walter is being introduced to a world of new surf technology.

The Walden WaveJet series of Personal Water Propulsion (PWP) Surfboards, SUPs and Water Rescue Boards are patented by the WaveJet PWP pod, surfing’s first miniaturized jet drive technology. The boards make 8 to 10 knots on still water, which is 3 to 5 times faster than paddling, and makes it easier for living legends like Walter Hoffman to enjoy what he loves doing best.

Christian Fletcher In The Ghetto

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

Christian Fletcher recently got the cover of Ghetto Juice Magazine. There’s also an interview with Christian in this issue. And Christian being Christian, you can only expect to get the honest truth of what he thinks with just about anything.

Check out that slash. Fact: Christian Fletcher is not a one-trick pony.

So deal with it.

Nathan Fletcher Revisits An Old Friend: Teahupo’o May 14, 2013

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

Teahupo’o can be fickle. Teahupo’o can be angry. Teahupo’o can be out of your scope of mental and physical stability. But one thing it’s not; Teahupo’o is never without a dull moment.

The basic consensus from most people was that Koa Rothman took top honors this year for riding this crazy bitch out and making the impossible seem possible. But never one to hold back and always pushing his own endless boundaries, Nathan Fletcher was the guy who PADDLED, that’s right folks, PADDLED and not towed, into the biggest wave on May 14th. Dammit Nathan, you sure do up the ante all the time…

The following pics of Astrodeck Team Rider Nathan Fletcher were taken from various sources on the Internet.

To put it succinctly, perhaps Kelly Slater summed it up best when he recently wrote on his Instagram:

“#herbiefletcher pulled together another sick #wavewarriors group shot the other day. Hope he does it for another 20+ years. Good seeing the old guard and the new crew together in one place. Not many people could pull this shot off. Herbie sponsored my brother and I when I was 10yrs old. #legend”

He IS that good. He IS that talented. And he IS that surfing phenom who someday will be World Champ.

Need some more convincing? Watch the clip. John John makes his presence known and he makes his statement loud and clear. How sick is this kid? No. Seriously. If there ever was a true definition for the word Wunderkind, John John Florence would be it.

“Departure Delayed” also features guest appearances by Nathan Florence, Ivan Florence, Kiron Jabour, and Greyson Fletcher, so check it out!

Kamikaze Daredevil

Friday, January 4th, 2013

To attack fearlessly and recklessly, that’s what the Japanese word “Banzai” means. And judging from Greyson’s recent assault at the Banzai Skate Park, the boy was all about being a Kamikaze daredevil.

Check out Greyson in a couple of links. It’s good for your soul.

The D-Side with Makua Rothman: Part II

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

In Part 2 of The D-Side with Makua Rothman, Oahu’s native son talks about tow in partners and bandmates, the chick conflict, how times have changed since he won the Billabong XXL back in 2002, and his opinion on women surfers. Haha, pretty good stuff. Check back for Part 3 soon.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the music you hear throughout the interview is Makua’s. Kid’s got some mean talent!
